GOGEL is a unique company-level data set on the oil & gas industry tailored towards the needs of responsible investors.
GOGEL features data on all relevant upstream oil & gas companies with dedicated production, expansion and exploration metrics. Users can easily assess the exposure of a company’s oil & gas production portfolio with regards to controversial activities like tar sands mining or Arctic drilling. GOGEL also allows for a quantitative assessment of IEA NZE 1,5°C alignment for the full array of upstream companies. Additionally, the data set includes dedicated metrics quantifying the expansion activities of midstream companies (i.e. new LNG and pipeline projects).
Urgewald is a German human rights and environmental organization, which has shed light on controversial industry projects for more than 30 years. Its data-driven and impact-focused approach eventually resulted in the creation of two unequaled fossil fuel company data sets, one for thermal coal, the other for oil & gas. Both tools enable their users to reliably screen for fossil fuel exposure and facilitate designing, implementing and maintaining impactful fossil fuel divestment policies.
